Frankfurt Airport (FRA) is one of Europe’s major international aviation hubs and is by far the easiest airport for delegates travelling to CCR Frankfurt.
From the airport, the Westend Campus can be reached in approximately 20 minutes by taxi or around 35 minutes by public transport. Take the S8 or S9 S-Bahn towards Frankfurt city centre to Hauptwache, change there to the U1, U2, U3 or U8 and leave at Holzhausenstraße. The venue is approximately 500 metres' walk from the station.
Alternatively, take the S8 or S9 from the airport to Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof and continue by local transport from there. The journey between the airport and Frankfurt's main railway station takes approximately 15 minutes.
A word of warning: Frankfurt-Hahn Airport (HHN) is not Frankfurt Airport. Despite its name, it is approximately 120 km from Frankfurt, with journeys into the city typically taking at least 90 minutes. FRA is very substantially more convenient for CCR Frankfurt.
By Public Transport
Frankfurt has an excellent integrated S-Bahn, U-Bahn, tram and bus network, making public transport one of the easiest ways to reach the meeting.
For most delegates, the simplest route is to travel to Hauptwache, take the U1, U2, U3 or U8 to Holzhausenstraße, and walk approximately 500 metres to Campus Westend and the Festsaal Casino.
Several buses also serve the university. Bus 64 connects Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof with Bremer Straße, close to the campus, while the M36 serves Uni Campus Westend.

- S-Bahn = Stadtschnellbahn, essentially a suburban/commuter railway. It links Frankfurt city centre with the airport, outer districts and surrounding towns.
- U-Bahn = Untergrundbahn, Frankfurt’s metro system. Despite the name, parts of it run above ground. It is mainly used for shorter journeys within Frankfurt itself.
By Car
When approaching from the A5/A66, leave at the Nordwestkreuz Frankfurt onto the A66 towards Miquelallee. Continue into the city, turn right onto Hansaallee, then right onto Bremer Straße and right again onto Fürstenbergerstraße. Goethe University recommends Fürstenbergerstraße 233 as a useful navigation address when approaching the campus by car.
Parking on the university campus is limited and delegates should not rely on finding a space there. Goethe University recommends nearby public parking including the Parkhaus Palmengarten, with access from Siesmayerstraße 63.
Drivers should also be aware that central Frankfurt is an environmental zone (Umweltzone). Vehicles entering the zone require the appropriate green emissions sticker, including eligible foreign-registered vehicles.
By Train
Frankfurt (Main) Hauptbahnhof is one of Europe’s major railway hubs, with direct long-distance connections throughout Germany and to European cities including Paris, Brussels, Amsterdam, Basel and Vienna.
From the Hauptbahnhof, take an S-Bahn towards the city centre to Hauptwache, then change to the U1, U2, U3 or U8 to Holzhausenstraße. From there it is approximately a 10-minute walk to Campus Westend.
An alternative with less changing is Bus 64 from Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof to Bremer Straße, followed by a short walk to the university.

By Foot
Frankfurt is a compact city and delegates staying in Westend, around the Alte Oper or in the northern part of the city centre may find walking to the university easier than using public transport.
Campus Westend itself is very pedestrian-friendly. If travelling by U-Bahn, leave at Holzhausenstraße; the campus is approximately 500 metres away, with the Casino building a short walk through the university grounds.
For delegates staying further away, Frankfurt's excellent public transport network will usually be the quicker option.
